There is something very special about welcoming guests and showing them hospitality. In fact, hakhnasat orchim, as it is known in Hebrew, is an important Jewish value. At Reena, that value is magical.

Reena individuals had the opportunity to demonstrate that magical hospitality when Alex Krawczyk and her team from the Honey & Barry Sherman Legacy Foundation visited the Lou Fruitman Reena Residence.

Alex’s parents, the late Honey and Barry Sherman z’l, were longtime supporters of Reena, and she is proud to continue their legacy of generosity through her support for the new Frankfort Family Reena Residence.

Alex kicked-off her visit with a tour of the Betsy Fruitman Garden where she helped harvest vegetables grown by residents as part of the GReena farming initiative. This initiative is about more than just food. It’s about reducing Reena’s carbon footprint, and augmenting sustainability, which includes teaching the individuals to cook and eat what they grow. Alex joined the individuals at our cooking program and helped make delicious pasta primavera.
