THANK YOU FOR MAKING REENA BOWLING A HUGE SUCCESS!
After a three-year hiatus due to the pandemic, Striking for Reena, our signature bowling event, returned to Splitsville, Richmond Hill, on June 12th.
It was the event’s 10th anniversary and even though quieter than years gone by, those who attended spared no time catching up with each other.
The in-person crowd of 100 was joined virtually by another 400 guests, all of whom incredibly raised a striking $258,908 for Reena Foundation.
That brings the 10-year total of funds raised to $2,033,871. The $2-million has gone and goes towards so many Reena initiatives, including housing, employment programs, summer and winter camps, sports teams and vans to transport individuals supported by Reena.
Reena residents who were not able to bowl in person were able to participate in a week of events that included making team flags and enjoying pizza parties.
But it was the Justein family, who founded the event in honour of their sister Shari, an avid bowler, that reminded us what Striking is really about.
“Our sister Shari moved into a Reena home over 35 years ago and has never looked back. Reena’s bowlers show off their skills and take pride in being the stars of the day.” said Elaine Justein and Steven Justein, event co-chairs.
A special shout-out goes to the top fundraising team, Rebecca’s Guttersnipes and to top individual fundraiser, Rachel Libfeld, whose tally reached an incredible $40,126.00.
